Grades of Chains

Chains come in tons of different sizes and shapes. It is for this reason that chains are labeled as being of different grades and types. The larger the “grade” of a chain, the higher its strength. Regardless of whether the chains are welded or not; made of iron or stainless steel, the uses for chains are just as diverse as what they are made of and how they are made.
One of the top performing grades of chain is the Chain Grade 100. One of the lowest grades of chains is grade 30This is also called proof coil chain.
Grade 40/43 is a chain that is 50% stronger than Grade 30 chain. It is also called high-test chain. Towing, tying down loads and binding loads are just some of the uses for Grade 40/43 chain.
Each link in Grade 70 chain is heat-treated which makes it the perfect chain to use for binding loads and other transport uses. Grade 70 chain is 60% stronger than Grade 30 chain.
Lifting is an extremely typical use for Grade 80 chain. This chain should be made in accordance with the National Association of Chain Manufacturers (NACM) standards. The National Association of Chain Manufacturers grade designation should always best amped on Grade 80 chain.
Grade 100 chain is 25% stronger than Grade 80 chain. It should also always be stamped with the NACM Grade designation. Keep on checking out the official Elite Sales Inc.website for more information on NACM Grade chains, wire rope and much more.
Federal and Government Grade Wire Rope
Whether it’s for military applications or high performance aircraft cables, federal specification standard wire or wire rope is utilized in several departments within the US government. The military depends on the strength and reliability of wire ropes each day.
Federal and Government standards for wire ropes differ depending on what it is being used for.
MIL-DTL-83420 – Wire Rope that is flexible and mainly used for aircraft control.
MIL-P-24216 – Cores of Polypropylene with substrands of wire rope.
MIL-PRF-16173 – Corrosion resistant compound.
It’s extremely crucial to note that Federal Specifications on Wire Rope does not include all types and classes of wire rope and strands that are made available to the public. Federal specifications are only intended to regulate the most common classes of rope and strands; especially those that are intended for federal and government use such as those previously listed.
In order to be approved for government use, wire ropes must pass certain requirements related to the materials they are created from which contributes to its strength, flexibility and much more. Wire rope that is approved for government use can be composed of corrosion resistant steel and more as specified in the federal guidelines and requirements.
Along with other products, Elite Sales Inc. now carries a new line of domestic wire rope produced by High Performance Ropes of America (HPRA). In orderto celebrate the introduction of their new wire ropes, HPRA recently teamed up with E.S.I. to giveaway Apple products to prospective clients at the 2011 AWRF General Meeting and P.I.E.
